Philosophy

Canberra’s Italian trattoria Italian & Sons has been the talk of the town since opening its doors in 2009. As the very first premium restaurant in bustling Lonsdale Street, Italian & Sons almost single-handedly began the transformation of the Braddon precinct.
A firm favourite with locals, interstate visitors, political heavy hitters and captains of industry, Italian & Sons has both charmed and impressed diners with its inimitable offering of contemporary interpretations of essential Italian favourites in an authentic setting that would make even a restaurateur in Rome envious.
From the Trimboli family, the owners of Mezzalira Ristorante, Da Rosario and Bacaro, Italian & Sons is much-loved culinary institution thanks to its unwavering commitment to honest food, high quality seasonal ingredients and thoroughly hospitable service.
Since winning a one-hat rating in the SMH Good Food Guide in its very first year of operation, to maintaining a prestigious two-glass rating in the Gourmet Traveller Wine Australian wine list of the year awards, the critical acclaim speaks volumes.

Forget flying to Italy and head to Canberra’s bustling Italian and Sons instead for a night of authentic food and superb wine. The wine list is a slick inventory of Italian wine from key regions, plus the odd French and Australian addition. Of note are the collections of Barbaresco and Barolo plus quality Chianti Classico and Brunello di Montalcino. Most of all, it’s a carefully compiled list which gives one great confidence in the selections.
